Our commitment

A target approved by the SBTi

The Science Based Targets initiative has approved intoDNA’s near-term science-based emissions reduction target. In full, our approved target reads:

“intoDNA commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions 63% by 2035 from a 2025 base year, and to measure and reduce its scope 3 emissions.”

What SBTi validation means

The Science Based Targets initiative is a global climate-action body – a partnership of CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute and the World Wide Fund for Nature. It defines the emissions cuts companies must make to keep global heating within 1.5°C. Our target was approved through SBTi’s streamlined validation route for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).


Where we stand

Our 2025 baseline footprint

Our operations are lab- and office-based in Kraków. Almost all of our footprint is indirect energy use – the electricity and district heating that power our laboratory and offices (Scope 2). Direct emissions (Scope 1) are negligible: a trace of technical CO₂ used in the lab. Emissions are calculated in accordance with the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard.

Figures in tonnes of CO₂ equivalent (tCO₂e). Scope 1 + 2 location-based total: 78.4 tCO₂e. Progress is tracked using the market-based method. We commit to measure and reduce our Scope 3 (value-chain) emissions.

The path to 2035

How we’ll cut emissions by 63%

Because our footprint is dominated by purchased energy, our route to a 63% reduction runs through cleaner electricity and lower-carbon heat.

Renewable electricity

Secure Guarantees of Origin (GoO) for the electricity supplied to our premises, substantially reducing our market-based electricity emissions.

Low-carbon heating

Pursue heat-pump heating in place of high-carbon district heat – our second-largest source of emissions.

A greener building

Where on-site change isn’t feasible, relocate to premises equipped with heat pumps and on-site photovoltaic generation.

Bridging the gap

Purchase additional renewable electricity (GoO) from certified renewable sources to close any remaining gap to target.

Tracking our progress

In line with SBTi requirements, we will disclose our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions and our progress toward the 2035 target every year. Updated figures will be published here.
